Social Padel in Manchester

Padel Grid started as a group of North West mates arguing about who was best on court. It is now a season-long championship, but the social side stayed: free WhatsApp communities, music at the bigger rounds, photographers on site and a format where nobody sits out.

Every match matters · Every point counts

Who it is for

  • Players new to Manchester looking for people to play with
  • Anyone without a regular partner or a club to play at
  • Social players who want scored, organised competition rather than a casual hit
  • Groups of friends happy to be split across divisions by level

The free WhatsApp communities

There are two open groups, one men's and one women's. Entries drop there first, released places are offered there, and players arrange casual games between rounds. Joining is free and commits you to nothing.

Social, but still scored

Every match is scored and every round has a podium. The difference between a social round and a competitive one is the level band and the atmosphere, not the organisation — live standings, officiating and Championship Points apply either way.

The most social formats

  • Bank holiday Queen of the Court at Destination Padel Cheadle — singles Americano, pizza and music
  • Saturday Night Fever evening rounds
  • The season finale matchday, where the championship is settled

How the community actually started

It began with a group of North West mates and an argument that would not die about who was best on court. Instead of settling it over one night, we built a championship: individual entries, rotating partners, points that carry, and a season that ends with one name at the top. The competitive structure came from a social problem, which is why the two have never pulled apart.

Between the rounds

  • Casual games arranged daily in the WhatsApp groups
  • Level-matched hitting partners for anyone new to the city
  • Photos and clips from every round shared back to the community
  • Round announcements and released places posted there first

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost to join the community?

No. The WhatsApp groups are free and open — you only pay when you enter a tournament.

Can I come and watch first?

Yes. Spectators are welcome at every round, and it is the easiest way to see the format before you enter.

I am new to Manchester — is this a good way to meet players?

It is the reason a lot of our regulars joined. Rotating partners means you play with the whole field.
